You’ll spend four hours riding between northern-light viewing spots around Ylläs with an English-speaking photographer-guide. Expect practical low-light camera tips, playful light effects, hot drinks, gingerbread cookies, and a link to your evening’s photos. The aurora is never guaranteed, but the photo session gives the outing value even on a cloudy night.
You’ll wear a full-body rescue suit, walk from a warm cabin to an ice hole, and float safely in a frozen lake near Ylläs. English-speaking guides brief you before the water, then serve hot berry juice by the campfire. The sky may bring stars or Northern Lights, but neither is guaranteed.

You’ll be picked up in Ylläs, fitted with winter gear, and guided into the dark forests by snowmobile. Two adults share one machine, with children riding in a sledge. The three-hour outing includes berry juice, Lapland-made Gold Bar chocolate, insurance, and return transport.

You’ll ride a shared snowcat from Ylläs Ski Resort in Ylläsjärvi to Ylläskammi restaurant at the top of Ylläs fell. The 2.5-hour evening includes a welcome drink and a buffet of Lappish food, with time to watch for the northern lights. Finnish and English are spoken. Bring very warm clothing.
“The staff in the Yllaskammi 718 restaurant were friendly. The buffet meal was a soup, starter buffet and main of either sauted reindeer or salmon with mashed potatoes and root veg. There was also a selection of cheese and a small mousse like dessert. The food was nice and plenty of it but not amazing. Ideally there needed another waiter as staff were very busy. The highlight was being lucky enough to go outside in the dark and see the northen lights. The snowcat ride up and down was unpleasant, 25 people crammed in like sardines and no view as the windows were frozen. Yllaskammi 718 is lovely day or…”
